Efficient load management and monitoring of charging stations with OCPP

OCPP Charging Management - Cloud

Installing a charging station for electric vehicles may be straightforward, but as soon as more charging stations are installed, the requirements for efficient management increase. Companies are then faced with challenges such as the central management of RFID tags, the export of billing data, dynamic load management and the need for real-time monitoring. With the new charge management add-on, based on the Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP), all these challenges are now easy to solve. AnyViz makes it possible to connect charging stations across manufacturers and integrate them into the existing cloud system.

Easy connection via OCPP

Connecting the charging stations via OCPP is very simple. All you need to do is enter the URL wss://portal.anyviz.io/ocpp/ followed by the AnyViz project number in the charging station – and the connection is established. After subscribing the add-on, the new charging management vizual is available in the cloud. It provides a comprehensive overview of the entire charging park.

OCPP Wallbox cloud visualization

Each charging port is displayed with current status information and measured values. Charging processes can also be started and ended.

Central management of RFID tags

To start a charging process, an RFID tag must be presented. As soon as OCPP is configured, the verification and charging release is done centrally via the cloud platform. New RFID tags can be easily added, their validity can be individually defined and charging logs can be viewed in detail. If a new tag is used that is not yet known to the system, the operator is informed and can add the tag with just a few clicks. This function simplifies user and access management and saves time in day-to-day operations.

Efficient billing

The charging log lists all charging processes of the connected charging stations. By assigning the RFID tags and the measured energy quantities, the data can be used for billing. The Excel export function can be used to transfer the billing data to external systems. This ensures transparent billing and reduces manual processes to a minimum.

Dynamic load management

With dynamic load management, the available electrical capacity can be used optimally and expensive grid expansion can be avoided. The power limit for the charging park can either be fixed or set dynamically via a variable. If the load reaches the capacity limit, active charging processes are automatically throttled. If the minimum is reached, the system stops the oldest charging process to allow new vehicles access. This intelligent control not only protects the infrastructure, but also makes it possible to charge many vehicles at the same time without exceeding the maximum available capacity.

Reduce energy costs

AnyViz offers additional benefits for operators relying on dynamic electricity tariffs or photovoltaic systems. With the help of load management, charging processes can be specifically shifted to more favorable time windows. For example, the limit of the charging park can be reduced in the morning hours in order to benefit from cheaper electricity prices in the midday hours. All that is needed is a data point that can react to the PV output or the electricity exchange price.

Continuous integration in the cloud

An OCPP connection behaves like any other cloud adapter. Its tags can be recorded, analyzed and monitored. This means that the charging park can be smoothly integrated into the existing energy management and building management system and there is no need to frequently switch between different systems. AnyViz thus serves as a central management system for the entire property.
